Researching Theatre Project

My primary objective when coming up with a plan for the Dolls House Theatre was to recreate all the technical and aesthetic characteristics of a real theatre as realistically as possible. To do that I needed to think about exactly what features I wanted the theatre to include and then decide on a practical scale suitable to achieve a the best results while keeping costs down.

My first plan of action was to see what elements of a theatre I wanted. So as part of my research I took a good look around the internet. Google, as always, has a wealth of images and endless links to web sites to visit and gain ideas. Some of the best web sites I list on the links page.

Productions such as The Royal Variety Performance, Christmas Pantomimes, Rock Concerts, The Proms, Awards Ceremonies, The Ballet and Opera are just some examples for inspiration that were viewed on television. DVDs also provided a lot of ideas for design too. Of course just going to the theatre fills in the blanks!
